Nein, nein, Adlkofer kommt für "sowas" nicht infrage. Heißt es doch auf Seite 3 des verlinkten Dokuments:

"Adlkofer: Research for me means the truth, I am only out for truth."

(Adlkofer: Forschung bedeutet für mich die Wahrheit. Ich bin nur für die Wahrheit).

Könnte Franz Adlkofer 1992 möglicherweise schon Kenntnis von dem gehabt haben, was heute als die "Legacy Tobacco Documents Library" bekannt ist, und sich deshalb diskret um eine Imagepolitur bemüht haben?

Dafür gibt es keinen Anhaltspunkt, denn die gefürchtete Dokumenten-Sammlung ließ erstmals 1994 von sich hören, wie folgender Auszug belegt:

The UCSF Library launched The Legacy Tobacco Documents Library in 2002 but the genesis of the project began 8 years earlier when a few thousand pages of highly confidential, internal documents from the Brown & Williamson Tobacco Corporation were copied and leaked by an anonymous whistleblower to various academics, media outlets and Congress. One of these document sets was sent to UCSF professor Dr. Stanton Glantz in May, 1994. The documents consisted primarily of scientific studies on the addictive nature of nicotine and other health effects of tobacco smoke.
