Wheeler hatte Mitte Juni das obligatorische Hearing des US-Senats, ob er den Chef-Sessel der FCC bekommt, entscheidet sich aber wohl erst im September.

US-Mobilfunkgegner erwarten stündlich die Wahl Wheelers zum neuen FCC-Chef. Doch in letzter Minute möchten sie dem ehemaligen Präsidenten der CTIA noch die Suppe versalzen. Dazu ruft das EMR Policy Institute die Mobilfunkgegner der USA auf, die für sie zuständigen Senatoren anzurufen und von der Nominierung Wheelers für den neuen Posten abzubringen. Eine Liste mit Telefonnummern der Senatoren wird den lieben Mitstreitern selbstverständlich zur Hand gegeben.

Und wer nicht telefonieren mag, der soll schreiben. Oder besser gesagt unterschreiben, denn der fix und fertig vorformulierte Protestbrief liegt natürlich ebnfalls vor.

Please reject the nomination of Thomas E. Wheeler for Chairman of the FCC.

Thomas E. Wheeler, former president of the CTIA who opposed meaningful radiofrequency (RF) safety limits in the 1996 Telecommunications Act, has been nominated to be Chairman of the FCC. He should not be heading the FCC at a time when the FCC is considering whether it needs to update its RF safety limits. His conflicts of interest are too great. Mr. Wheeler was key in preventing enactment of biologically-based RF safety limits in the past. He is the WRONG choice to head the FCC now, when it is again reassessing the need for biologically-based RF safety limits.

A statement submitted to the FCC by The American Association for Justice, formerly the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, urges the FCC to update tits RF limits and base them on current science ( http://apps.fcc.gov/ecfs/document/view?id=7520942173).

It is crucial that meaningful biologically-based RF safety limits be enacted soon. The price for inaction is too high.

Please reject the nomination of Mr. Wheeler for FCC Chairman. This is not the time to put an industry lobbyist at the helm of the FCC. Mr. Wheeler will not serve the public interest of the American people if confirmed.
