Israel: a new bill to protect children from cell-phone radiation

Ein Gesetzentwurf aus Israel, das Kindern den Kauf von Handys verbietet, und vorschreibt, dass auf jedem Handy eine Warnung steht: *Warnung! Das Gesundheitsministerium warnt, dass die häufige Nutzung und das Tragen des Geräts nahe am Körper das Krebsrisiko vergrößern kann, besonders bei Kindern.*
Außerdem darf mit Kindern nicht geworben werden und die Werbung darf sich nicht an Kinder richten.
Hintergrund: Prof. Roni Seger vom Weizman Institut hat im Okt 2007 dem Parlament eine Studie präsentiert, die eine Reaktion von ERK-Protein auf Mobilfunkstrahlung zeigt. Es ist zwar nicht sicher, ob dies mit einem erhöhten Krebsrisiko verbunden ist, aber es werden Bedenken gegen diese Technik geschürt.

A new bill has been presented to the Israel Parliament (the Knesset) proposing to limit the use of and sales of cell phones to children. The bill was filed by MPs Dov Hanin Michael Malchior with nine other MPs. According to the new bill, any advertising of mobile phones will need to include a warning taking up 5% of the advertisement page. Children will not be permitted to be shown in the advertisement and such advertisements cannot therefore be directed towards children. Moreover, children will not legally be able to buy themselves a cell phone (unless they are accompanied by an adult). Furthermore, cell phones will not be able to be legally sold without a warning. The warning will say, on a patch of at least the size of 5 cm, "Warning! The health ministry warns that heavy usage and the carrying of the device close to the body can increase the risk of cancer, especially among children." Warnings regarding the dangers will be posted at the sales centers of cell phones, services centers, and on the companies' websites. Background: At the Knesset (parliament) meeting on the 8 October 2007, Prof Roni Seger presented the Weizmann Institute study results regarding the reaction of protein ERK to the mobile radiation. While it is not clear as to whether there is a clear cancer link, the results do raise concern -- especially in view of the use by children. Therefore, it has been proposed to increase public awareness with regards to the health dangers. The goal of the bill is to place limits on the advertising and sales of cell phones, especially to children who are especially vulnerable to the devastating effects of the mobile radiation. The health minister will evaluate the damage and it will be a crime not to obey the directions of the bill in a similar manner with regards to the laws regulating tobacco advertisement.

Auslöser dieser Warnung soll diese Studie von Rony Seger vom Weizman Institut sein, die im EMF Portal veröffentlicht ist.

Eine entsprechender Zeitungsbericht in "Daily Mail" vom letzten Jahr wurde von Diagnose Funk dazu übersetzt.

Hier im Forum wurde diese Studie (Friedmann et al) im letzten Jahr auch diskutiert, allerdings, wie ich den Eindruck habe unter dem Blickwinkel der "schwachen unfreiwilligen Felder" und nicht unter dem Blickwinkel der Handynutzung.
